The Fortress hill The Cydonia mines
The Face Hill area on Cydonia
the_face-color.jpg (305937 byte) A foreword about "the face":

Since back 1996 I have my doubt about this object to be a monument portraiting a "face". This mainly because I've always been against the "antropocentric"  vision of the universe so diffused in our society.
We - human beings - know how our faces look like; simply thinking other races should know it, and then make a huge monument so big to be visible from space, to catch our attention is an insult to everyone's intelligency.
Too selfish; we are not so important. And then it would have been simpler and safer ways to accomplish this task, than relyng on the fantsy of the supposed space observers, and to precision of the engineers in charge to build it.
Much more practical to build a huge square object, togheter with straight lines and possibly embedding some symbol and binary sequences. Not a big effort, and quite visible from space.
Now that we have closer picture of "the face" it's clear that is not a monument of such kind, and not a monument at all. It's only an hill. It shows some artificiality, anyway, but there are other stranger shapes than this, for instance, like the Fortress

But this doesn't mean that cydonia plain has no secrets.

Notice what's inside the circular hole (not a crater) in the lower part of the image.

Close to "the Face Hill" there is this object, unnoticed so far, being its peculiarities offuscated from its famous neighbour.

Take a closer look at this image:
notice that there are two crater-like objects and a third object flatter and of irregular shape.

There are also lines on the plain, that could be massive walls.

The hill itself, in the center of the image, shows an ineplicable "crown" of walls in all its perimeter, and another one surrounding the top.

This is a natural object, probably a chip of the crust, flinged from the impact of the asteroid that caused the big impact crater visible on the right side of the context image (above) that throwed largesharp  fragments all around.

At least was natural, before something (or "someone") modified its shape.
Notice the similarities with the image below (Cydonia mines)

Something or "someone" has digged these open-sky mines. The mining tecnique is rudimentary at best; proceeding from the outer to the inner, without terracements and eroding the side of the hill without any care of preserving the shape and accessibility of the quarry.

We already seen a quarry like these in the village one.

Notice the perfectly smooth funnel-shaped hole on the plateau.

Compare this image with the fortress (above) and notice the similarities on the left side.
